My niece just turned 1 not too long ago. I had a wonderful idea for some fun shots in a daisy field, but when I got to the field the whole thing had been mowed down. I was sooo bummed. So we headed to a park near by, not wanting the day and the cute outfit to go to waste and here are a few of my favorite shots.

She did not want to leave the headband on!

I finally sat down and came up with pricing I am comfortable with. Its a lot of work being a photographer and many people don't know how much time is involved outside of just shooting the photos. But I also believe that a photographer should be somewhat affordable. Yes, most of my photographer friends would think I'm under charging, but to me that's where the love comes in. And I put a lot of love into my work so that most people can get quality pictures at a reasonable price. And I hope that I came up with pricing that gives value to myself and to my clients. "The Comedy of Errors" Headshots

I've been wanting to volunteer and an opportunity arose to do so for a local theater to provide some donated photography. The Majestic in Corvallis, OR is doing the play "The Comedy of Errors." It is directed by Robert Leff and Assisted by Stephanie Long who is a member of the Free Range Chix who I am involved with. Everyone was fun to photograph and I enjoyed the short time spent with those involved. Here are the shots from the shoot. Visit The Majestic's website for show times and ticket information.

I know its been awhile since I posted so here are some that I took of my baby, Destino.

Still working on logo designs too.

My cat was being cute looking at the Christmas tree. It was almost like seeing the wonder on a child's face watching him eye the kitty friendly plastic ball ornament. My favorite is the first one. He almost looks like a kitten again. He turned five this year, and he and I are still supporting each other through the good and bad times. He is my guardian angel.

My baby sister has been begging me to put more pictures up. I'm just so busy with working 40 hours a week, trying to go back to school, being married & trying to keep up with my photography! I admit, I need to process through pictures faster. I need to also learn how to make it so my colors are consistent from photo to photo. So with that frustration, its taking me awhile to go through them. I still have a long ways to go with post processing...

And to whine a bit, all the mouse work and typing has really flared my wrists and elbows up! So sore! Here is another sneak peak. I did these for her in-laws before they departed from our country.

PDX Click Chicks Mini Shoot

I belong to a group of amazing women photographers called the Click Chicks. mostly comprised of photographers in the Portland area but includes some as far south as Eugene. Once a month, at least, we get together, talk shop, teach each other, and occasionally do mini shoots. This month Melissa from Soul Mates Photography was our teacher and we did an Urban shoot using her husband, Josh, as our model. Now as a photographer emerging into the world of the professionals, a non-related, human, subject to practice on was a wonderful opportunity. Melissa talked about how to handle clients before a shoot, how to discuss with them what not to wear, location hunting, and posing. All of which I sooo needed! Now if only I lived somewhere as cool as Portland for locations! Alberta District was so cool, I wish I had gotten to see more. Haha I'm so small town! But honestly, since this, as I drive around good ol' Albany, I think, "Ooh there's a good place to shoot. Hmm, I wonder if that place would work?" But I always forget where they are! I guess I need to devise a plan for remembering. Like taking a picture, jotting down the location & making myself little location cheat sheet flash cards, or something...I had a lot of fun taking these. Thanks Melissa!

My baby sister was married in the Portland LDS Temple yesterday. I lost a sister, but gained a pretty cool brother-in-law who is from Papua New Guinea. Here is one of my favorites of them. More to come later.

This little cotton ball was a riot to photograph. The only way we could remotely get her to hold still was to tease her with my cat treats! And still it was a challenge! Nikki is a co-worker's dog and when I was asked to photograph her, I was more that happy to oblige. Hope they make you smile as much as I did taking them :)

Racing Season!

So racing season is about to start in the Willamette Valley and when I'm not taking photos I enjoy watching dirt track races at the local track in Lebanon. I used to work with Mike and occasionally help him and his driver Steve out when they race in the area. So when they show cased the race cars at the Heritage mall here in Albany, he asked me to stop by and shoot some pics. The team is S&M Racing. Mike is the crew chief, Steve is the driver, and I'm the occasional hired help :) Steve drives a Midget.

So my work did a fundraiser for West Albany High on Tuesday. For every test drive, Ford donated $20 to the school. It was bitter cold and I was out in it for 8 hours! And to think I volunteered for to help...should have thought what time of year it was first! It was well worth it. We raised nearly $3K for the school! I am all for things that help out our future, the next generation. So I toted my camera a long and took a few shots. Here they are...

Ok so I wasn't their official photographer. But that didn't keep me from catching a few good shots for myself though ;) Their photographer was Jack Arce. Check out his website if you like...http://www.jackarcestudio.com/. He gave me a few tips and tricks of the still escaping art of flash photography. I'll be excited to see how his shots turned out from the wedding. I love when a photographer lets me soak in their knowledge. For some reason, I get to reading my photography books and my eyes sort of glaze over and I end up reading the same paragraph 3 times. I struggle on my own. I've always been one of those people who learn best by watching and then trying myself. So here are a few shots from the wedding.

Babsy & Chris Engagement!

I had the wonderful enjoyment of taking the Engagement photos for two wonderful friends of mine. Babsy had a lot of fun with the camera and lots of great ideas of where to go. We went to a few locations in Salem such as the Capitol grounds and the Carousel downtown. Not sure if I am shooting their wedding in February, but wish them the very best!

Ok so my latest subjects have been the furthest from human as you can get, though they think themselves as such. I thought everyone would enjoy these as much as I did taking them.

These first two were caught when my cat Destino was waking up.
This one was practice with low light, my new Speedlite flash and my cat Ash.
This one is of my mother's new adopted stray, layinging in the middle of the puzzle that was being worked on Christmas Day.
A stray kitten that has made a home in my mother's backyard. I snuck him some food...it was Christmas after all!
